Will my old pans work on my new Induction Hob?
It depends on the age and material of your pans. Stellar has been manufacturing induction-compatible cookware since 2002, so if your stainless steel pans were purchased before this, they may not work on an induction hob.
Here’s how to check:
-
Look for the batch number stamped on the base. If it's 85 or lower, the pan likely predates 2002 and won’t be induction-compatible.
-
Try the magnet test: if a magnet sticks firmly to the base, your pan should work on an induction hob. Induction relies on magnetic contact, so non-magnetic bases won’t be recognised by the hob.
To get the best performance from your induction hob, always use pans with fully flat, magnetic bases.
