Can Stainless Steel knives rust?
Although stainless steel is designed to resist rust, it is still possible for stainless steel knives to develop rust spots, especially if exposed to warm, damp environments over time—such as inside a dishwasher. The high heat and moisture can create conditions that promote corrosion. For this reason, we strongly recommend hand washing your stainless steel knives.
Start by wiping off any food residue before washing in warm, soapy water. After washing, dry the knives immediately with a soft cloth to prevent moisture from lingering. If you do use a dishwasher, remove the knives promptly once the cycle completes and dry them thoroughly. Leaving knives sitting in a hot, damp dishwasher or wet sink can cause rust spots to form, which may damage the blade’s performance and appearance.
With proper care, stainless steel knives can maintain their sharpness and corrosion resistance for many years.
