How is the coating applied to the pan?
The method of applying a non-stick coating depends largely on the pan’s material. For softer metals like aluminium, the bond between the coating and metal is exceptionally strong. Because of this, aluminium pans are often made by pressing the pan shape from an aluminium disc that is already coated with PTFE, ensuring excellent durability under stress.
For harder metals such as steel or cast iron, the bond with the coating is not as strong. Therefore, the non-stick coating is sprayed on after the pan has been formed.
Once applied, the coating is cured at very high temperatures (over 350°C). This curing process causes the coating to stratify into layers:

The binding agents sink and adhere firmly to the metal surface,

While the PTFE and hardening agents rise to the surface, forming the smooth, durable non-stick layer.
This advanced layering and curing process create a strong, wear-resistant coating that enhances cooking performance and longevity.
